Tony Sheets is a sculptor, painter and teacher. He has been working in
copper repousse' for the last two plus years and is enjoying the medium
greatly. "It gives me a great outlet for my whimsy" Sheets explains. It is
more difficult to express the lighter side of my creativity in painting
and traditional sculpture, but copper fits the bill. He will be showing at
the Sheets Family residence of "Barking Rocks", and looks forward to
sharing his new work with you.
Repousse' is the art of pounding metal to form predetermined shapes. The
sculptures by this artist are free-formed without the aid of molds and
each is literally a one of a kind sculpture. Both copper and brass are
used which allows these sculptures to be displayed indoors or out. Left
alone, the metal will gain a natural patina or finish. Chemical patinas
may also be used to create colorful finishes.
