At an early age Mona Innes was drawn to design, color and
form. Particularly as these elements related to textiles. She worked in
various crafts but finally settled on Textile Sculpture. The sculpture
allowed Mona to explore a third dimension and occupied Mona's creative
hands for many years.
Sculpture was a natural lead in to Architecture. Architecture and
design
became a primary involvement which has followed the artist-designer most
of her adult life. Mona and her husband Robert have done many home
restorations and remodels in Berkeley, Ca. In 1986 they received the
Berkeley Architectural Heritage Award.
Moved to return to creating with her hands, Mona returned to Art in
1998. Encouraged by her husband Robert who designs copper lamps, the
artist entered the realm of the machine shop and began developing
unusual wall art. The wall reliefs are assembled using vintage fabric,
coins, wire, metal and other found items. These items are mounted on
metal. Usually copper. Mona's work is unique, whimsical and sometimes
amusing.
