I was born in Southern California and raised in Santa Rosa. I have lived
in Gualala for 10 years and am a member of North Coast Artist Guild. I
work out of my home studio.
Ever since I was young I have always been fascinated by the way each
color
plays off other colors. I realized early on that glass adds another
dimension to the color play by adding transparency and translucency to the
mix. My first experience with hot glass was in about second or third
grade when the class made paperweights from glass that the teacher had one
of her friends fire in his kiln. That fascinated me! Over the ensuing
years that experience was always in the back of my mind but was somewhat
crowded out by the passage of time. I grew up, graduated from Analy High
School in Sebastopol, met and married my husband, and had five
children. That kept me busy for quite a few years! In 1993 with three
children still at home we moved up to Gualala. Once the kids were grown
and out of the house, I decided to do something about my fascination with
color and glass. I spent some time making beaded jewelry with glass beads
and semiprecious stones. That was rewarding, but I wanted to do more,
have more input, if you will. My husband and I took a class in glass
fusing and I was hooked. I had found the medium I had been looking
for. We bought a Paragon kiln and I began my journey as a glass artist
working out of my home studio.
So far I have been concentrating on making functional artwork, bowls,
platters, plates. I am also going to begin work on some wall and window
projects. I plan to continue learning and evolving as an artist and I'm
sure my artwork will evolve as well. I hope you will come by my studio
and visit me during this year's Studio Tour! See you then!
