DRIFTWOOD, KELP, ACRYLIC, LEATHER, BEADS, SHELLS

Like many coast residents, I am a beach comber. I can't resist picking up interesting sculpted driftwood, shells, abalone shards, smoothed glass, dried kelp heads. I fill my studio with these natural treasures. Initially I made the 'Kelp People', figurative wall hangings. They are pairs - one male, one female ...anatomically correct under their skirts for the fun of it!

I'd say these coastal creations are contemporary folk art. Some are natural, some are painted. Later I created mermaids, driftwood angels and most recently, the 'Rare and Endangered' series. These unusual creatures are mythic animals, very full of themselves.

When you visit my studio you will walk through my garden, a 25 year project of flowers, fruit and vegetable edibles. It's perhaps my most ambitious work of art. I look forward to welcoming you to my world.
