Kristin
Gustavson has been studying art under the
direction of her father for about six years. Influenced by art all
of her life, however, she's always had the goal of becoming an
accomplished artist. Having this goal so young has helped her to
take in as much learning, influence and criticism from accomplished
artists as she could get. She can't imagine a time when she wasn't
out in the studio, right under foot, working on all kinds of art creations.

Working at getting an abstract yet realistic look to her
paintings, she uses objects people are familiar with, altering them to
some extent to look abstract, adding her personal style at the same
time. Her art is the vehicle through which she expresses her emotions.
Therefore, she is inspired by events in her own life, and those around
her. She tries to convey the feeling behind each piece through her use
of color, lighting, lines, brushstrokes, writing and
sometimes even the object she chooses. There is a story for every
painting, sometimes obvious, sometimes much deeper.
She does a wide variety of styles with her art.
Her paintings, for
instance, range from still-lifes to figurative abstracts. She also does collage,
incorporating an abstract figurative style.
